What is Phos-Flur?
Phos-Flur is a fluoride mouthrinse originally manufactured as a prescription-only product to help prevent cavities and white spot lesions on the enamel of your teeth. The mouthrinse has been clinically proven to promote healing of the enamel after the acid produced by the bacteria in plaque has begun to erode away the outer surface of enamel (called demineralization). It is safe for most ages, sugar-free, alcohol-free and comes in three flavors. It is now available over the counter in the toothpaste aisle.
- Who should use Phos-Flur?
Phos-Flur is a great adjunctive product for anyone who is in braces or any other orthodontic appliance, as well as anyone who has dry mouth. It can help prevent cavities in people who have a high cavity risk or history of multiple cavities. Please ask Dr. Jill or Dr. Lara if you could benefit from this product.
- How should I use Phos-Flur?
Use once daily after brushing and flossing, preferably at night. Swish 10mL of mouthrinse for 1 minute and spit excess out. Do not swallow! Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after use.
